Schwing Takes Lead in Green Concrete Pumps

Going Green means more at Schwing than just displaying their distinctive green logo. The company has designed their concrete pumps to be fuel efficient and use less water in keeping with the environmental concerns of today’s contractors and consumers. The company’s line of concrete pumps with placing booms from 17 to 61 meters also offer time savings for operators, which translates to less energy consumption on the job. A new corporate icon reflects the overall “greenness” of Schwing products.

“A contractor customer that owned more than one brand of concrete pump mentioned that he documented his pumping fuel consumption and that his Schwing’s were more fuel efficient,” states Tom O’Malley, Schwing Director of Marketing, National Accounts, Product Development, “A study commissioned by our parent company in Germany some years ago also recognized the fuel savings of the Schwing open loop hydraulic system.”

In order to verify the Schwing fuel efficiency advantage, the U.S. branch conducted a test where two Schwing concrete pumps were compared head-to-head with two comparable pumps from another manufacturer. The results were published and showed up to 60-percent less fuel consumption with a Schwing concrete pump.

The unique Rock Valve™ that is incorporated on all Schwing boom pumps requires less water to washout than conventional sequencing valves used on all other brands of concrete pumps sold in North America. The design of the Rock Valve™ allows operators to rinse out faster and with less water. Many states are adopting federal standards that restrict rinse water from contacting the ground. The lower water usage of a Schwing helps contractors cope with these new laws.
