New Video Highlights Unique Schwing S 36 SX RZ4 Boom Configuration

A new 5-minute video produced by Schwing highlights the company’s RZ4 boom which is standard on the S 36 SX truck-mounted concrete pump with placing boom. Concrete pumpers and contractors can see action footage of the innovative design that combines the best features of Roll and Fold with Z. “We put the Z at the tip section where it is the most useful with full 270-degree articulation,” stated Tom O’Malley, Schwing Director of Marketing, National Accounts, Product Development. The video illustrates the boom’s usefulness in several scenarios including reaching inside enclosed structures and maneuvering over job-site obstacles. “The S 36 SX is the ideal boom for contractors and concrete pumpers because it can do in-door work in the morning pumping mezzanines and work out-doors in the afternoon performing commercial and residential work, “ O’Malley added.

Another feature viewers can see in action is the ability of the RZ4 boom to fold and unfold fast. With the RZ4 boom operators do not have to extend the tip section to secure the end hose. The video also shows how the RZ4 boom can reach over obstacles and not be locked out between the second and third sections. “Operators can get the full benefit of the three sections of Roll and Fold and then use the 270-degree tip section to reach the pour area,” according to O’Malley. The RZ4 boom is also shown in the travel position which shows the second section angled in the cradle. Through the design of the offset pins, viewers will see how the boom unfolds in a straight line with the added advantage of a smoother boom with short pipe-arm holders.

Schwing’s signature, curved Super X outriggers are shown telescoping on job sites allowing faster and easier set-up. The rear outriggers are also shown telescoping which provides more versatility for set-up and allows more storage space. End hose footage shows the output of the 178 cubic yard per hour 2025-5 Generation 3 pumpkit that delivers 18% more concrete with each stroke. The pump is shown in volume applications and on residential pours.

The video points out the fuel efficiency of the Schwing open loop design. The water-saving features of the models’ Rock Valve are also shown during a clean-up sequence that illustrates the excellent access to the valve area that also speeds the cleaning process. The water tank has been conveniently relocated at the rear of the machine for operator convenience. At the end of the video, viewers are encouraged to contact Schwing for information on the S 36 SX demo tour.
