///
The primary application for the twin screw
feeder is for feeding dry (non-flowable) material that
cannot be sucked into the cake pump. Improves volumetric
filling efficiency.
///
For driving the screw feeder, the power unit is equipped
with an auxiliary hydraulic pump and three position
(Forward-Neutral-Reverse) control valve with high pressure
relief cartridge. Screw feeder speed is adjusted by
varying hydraulic pump output; output may be adjusted
manually or electrically.
///
The screw feeder can be located in the same horizontal
plane as the pump, with the screw feeder parallel or
perpendicular to the pump on the left or right side
in the direction of flow. The feeder can also be located
above the pump.
///
The screw feeder is a combination of two intermeshing
segmented flight cake breakers and twin screw conveyors.
The cake breaker/screw feeder is a single fabricated
unit designed to convey sludge continuously into the
cake pump suction housing. The unit is designed to be
self-cleaning during conveying. The inlet to the screw
feeder is rectangular flanged, and has dimensions corresponding
with customer specifications. Each cake breaker/screw
is supported at the drive end by oil lubricated bearings
installed in the screw feeder gear box and at the tail
end by outboard grease lubricated bearings. The drive
gear box is sized in accordance with the material to
be pumped and the pressure required in the suction housing
to insure good volumetric filling efficiency. The entire
rotating assembly is designed to provide continuous
duty under all anticipated load conditions. The hydraulic
drive motor is coupled directly to the gear box.
///
The screw feeder is bolted to the pump suction housing
with a flanged connection. The faces of the screw feeder
and the pump, at the point of connection, are machined
and furnished with O-Rings.
///
The screw feeder tub/housing and screws can be constructed
of A36 steel or 304 stainless steel.
